## 32. Originality Shields (`@themis/originality-shields` + media shields)

Themis provides a generated-content originality accept-gate: a way to decide,
before content is published, whether it overlaps a prior work and whether that
overlap is licensed. The gate is built from six small libraries —
`@themis/originality-shields` (the shared core) plus the five media shields
`@themis/music-shield`, `@themis/visual-shield`, `@themis/text-shield`,
`@themis/video-shield`, and `@themis/design-shield`.

These libraries are deliberately thin. They do not run detection models
themselves; they construct an evidence bundle and delegate verdict computation
to the `@concordia/contracts` originality-shield contract. Themis owns the
per-media-family configuration, the scan-input shape, and the public-UGC
accept-gate mapping.

### 32.1 How a shield scan works

A caller submits a scan input describing one upload — its `uploadId`,
`creatorAccountId`, `uploadKind` (`custom-championship`, `decal`, `logo`, or
`music-swap`), a SHA-256 content hash, a source URI, a creation timestamp, and
zero or more `referenceMatches` (each a prior-work id, an overlap score in 0–1,
and whether that overlap is licensed). Optional license lineages and a reviewer
sign-off flag may also be supplied.

`@themis/originality-shields` builds an `OriginalityEvidenceBundle`, calls the
contract's `evaluateShield`, and returns a verdict. The contract scores overlaps
into confidence bands (`inconclusive`, `low_overlap`, `medium_overlap`,
`high_overlap`, `substantial_match`, `identical`) and emits one of seven
verdicts. Themis collapses those into a three-value `decision`:

- **`passed`** — clear for distribution, clear with attribution, or licensed.
- **`review`** — route to human review, or route to counsel for an unverified
  licensing chain.
- **`blocked`** — unlicensed overlap, or a license is required but still
  pending.

The public-UGC accept gate passes only when `decision` is `passed`; anything
else blocks the upload. Each verdict carries the evidence bundle, the highest
unlicensed band, the maximum similarity score, blocking reasons, an evidence
URI, and the audit event type `themis.originality_shield.verdict_recorded`.

### 32.2 Per-media shields

Each media shield is a wrapper that fixes a media family, the UGC upload kinds
it covers, and a default evidence kind:

accept-gate wrappers, the Phase 74–75 detection libraries in §32.4 add per-media
detection engines (including character, motion, 3D, fashion, and environment
shields); there is still no `game`-specific shield library.

### 32.3 V2 consumer

V2 lands the public-UGC accept-gate subset through
`@v2/themis-originality-shields`, which composes the five media shields above.
Every public UGC accept-gate (custom decals, logos, music swaps, custom
championships) blocks unless the required shields return `passed`.

### 32.4 Fuller detection (Phases 74–75)

The thin accept-gate shields above are complemented by the Phase 74–75 detection
and operations libraries, which are present in `libs/themis/`:

- **Phase 74 — Music Shield depth.** `@themis/music-shield` carries the
  per-dimension detection envelope (melodic, harmonic, rhythmic, spectral,

There is **no `@themis/likeness` library** in the codebase. V2 dependency docs
describe a forthcoming, not-yet-created `@themis/likeness` name-image-likeness
(NIL) rights ledger, explicitly noted as a _new_ package distinct from
`@themis/identity` (governance identity — DID, eligibility, Sybil resistance).
Until that library exists there is no `LikenessLicense` entity and no
`themis.license.revoked` event; treat the NIL ledger as planned scope owned by
this domain. V2-side consent and performer-protection bridges (in the V2
sister-monorepo and the Aphrodite/Kuanyin domains) are consumer safeguards, not
the Themis ledger.

## 34. Concordia Dispute Routing (`@themis/dispute-resolution`)

`@themis/dispute-resolution` (TODO Phase 179) is the implemented routing and
intake layer between Themis governance disputes and the Concordia mediation
substrate. It is a small library — Concordia owns the shared bargaining
substrate, Aje owns on-chain settlement, and `@themis/arbitration` owns the
heavyweight arbitration/mediation engines. The boundary exists because
Concordia's mediation substrate is shared across many Oshun domains; Themis
contributes the governance-specific classification and intake logic, while
Concordia contributes the general mediation machinery.

- **Dispute routing** — `routeThemisDispute` classifies a dispute into one of
  nine kinds (`proposal_amendment`, `election_challenge`, `delegate_misconduct`,
  `ip_originality_appeal`, `moderation_appeal`, `marketplace_conflict`,
  `inter_dao_agreement`, `standard_amendment`, `community_council_dispute`) and
  returns a routing decision: whether to send it to Concordia, which operational
  mode to use, the reviewer queues to involve, and a rationale. Every kind
  routes to Concordia except `standard_amendment`.
- **V2 dispute flows** — Three intake builders: an EU Digital Services Act
  Statement-of-Reasons builder, a moderation-appeal opener (7-day SLA), and a
  tournament-result dispute opener. V2 binds these live through
  `@v2/themis-dispute-resolution`.

The fuller mediated-amendment workflow expansion (governance compromise-search
templates, oversight reporting) remains Phase 179 backlog.

`@themis/academic-integrity` is the Themis adjudication engine for Metis
academic-integrity cases. The boundary between Metis and Themis here reflects a
general principle: Metis owns the academic experience (courses, assessments,
learner journeys), while Themis owns the adjudication mechanics when integrity
violations require a governed process with appeals rights and bias monitoring.
This library is independent of `@themis/core` — it depends only on Zod.
