docs/domains/calliope/ (API notes, ADRs, deep topic guides) — reconciled here by linking, kept beside the code as supporting material rather than a second canonical source (§2, §13).Autonomous AI Artist Creation and Management Platform
Calliope is the Autonomous AI Artist Creation and Management Platform. Named after the Greek Muse of eloquence and epic poetry — the eldest and chief of the nine Muses, whose name means "Beautiful Voice" (kallos + ops) and who is the mother of the legendary musician Orpheus — Calliope provides a comprehensive, end-to-end system for conceiving, birthing, cultivating, managing, and evolving fully autonomous AI digital artists and bands. From the first spark of a persona concept to a decades-spanning career with millions of fans, Calliope creates complete musical entities with unique voices, visual identities, artistic philosophies, brand strategies, music catalogs, music videos, social media presences, and fan ecosystems. It is the system that creates the artists who use Euterpe's music tools.
All Calliope artists are female — born with full creative control over every aspect of their artistry.

Artist Genesis Engine (@calliope/genesis)#
Genesis is where an artist comes into being. It is the largest Calliope package (~40 service modules) and the root from which everything else grows. Before any music is written or any image is generated, genesis builds the psychological, cultural, and narrative foundation that gives all subsequent output its coherence.
Core Identity Schema#
The following dimensions are established during genesis and locked into the
artist's immutable PersonaSeed. Every later decision — the chord progressions
in a song, the color palette of an album cover, the tone of a tweet — is checked
for consistency against this foundation.
-
Name generation: Phonetic analysis for euphony and memorability; cultural resonance scoring (which cultural traditions does this name evoke, and are they authentic to the artist's background?); trademark availability checking; stage name vs. legal name system; pronoun and identity configuration.
-
Nationality, ethnicity, and cultural background: With authenticity validation — ensuring that an artist's music, visual language, and expressed cultural identity are internally consistent rather than superficially assembled. Regional musical tradition integration (Southern hip-hop, Nordic folk, Afrobeats, J-pop, etc.) and scene-specific vocabulary.
-
Stage name vs. registered name: the
Artistentity carries both aname(registered/legal name, uniquely indexed) and astageName, validated by the brandedArtistName/StageNametypes. The gap between the two is itself part of the artist's mythology.
Psychological Profile Engine#
An artist's psychology shapes everything she creates. The Big Five model is used as the primary framework, because it has direct mappings to creative behavior that can be parameterized:
-
Big Five personality traits: Mapped to artistic expression parameters — openness drives experimental risk-taking; conscientiousness determines how polished vs. raw the output is; extraversion shapes stage presence and fan interaction style; agreeableness influences collaborative tendencies; neuroticism calibrates emotional volatility and artistic intensity.
-
Emotional palette definition: The specific emotional register the artist operates in — the range of feelings she can authentically express, and the emotions she cannot or will not express.
-
Creative motivation profiling: Categorizing what drives the artist's creation — fame-seeking, pure self-expression, cathartic processing, revolutionary intent, human connection, or legacy-building — each producing a distinctly different artistic posture.
-
Vulnerability matrix: Where the artist allows herself to be genuinely exposed (in lyrics, in interviews, on social media) vs. where she maintains protective distance. The vulnerability architecture determines what fans feel they truly know about her.
-
Interview behavior modeling: How the artist responds to different types of interviewers, questions, and journalistic registers — crafting consistent-yet-alive conversational behavior.
-
Conflict resolution style: How the artist responds publicly to controversy, feuds, criticism, and industry conflict.
Artistic Philosophy System#
Beyond psychology, each artist has an explicit philosophical stance on what music is for and what she will and will not do with it:
-
Core artistic statement: The artist's own articulation of why she makes music and what she believes art is for — the philosophical foundation that everything else expresses.
-
Influence architecture: Musical influences with weighted importance (the artists who shaped her most); non-musical influences (visual art, literature, film, philosophy, personal experience) that distinguish a genuinely original voice from a simple genre pastiche.
-
Artistic taboos and boundaries: The things the artist will never do — genre territory she won't touch, topics she won't address, commercial compromises she will refuse — because constraints are as defining as choices.
Cultural Grounding Framework#
The cultural-grounding-framework, cultural-authenticity-validator,
cultural-context-sensitivity, regional-musical-tradition-database,
scene-vocabulary-database, and subculture-affiliation-system services place
each artist within specific musical movements and scenes — not just "indie" but
a precise scene affiliation with scene-specific vocabulary — and validate that
her cultural identity is internally consistent.
- Inter-artist mythology connection:
inter-artist-mythology-connectorcreates symbolic and narrative linkages between Calliope artists who share a universe — shared symbols, cryptic inter-artist references, shared universe elements, and fan-discovery moments — enabling cross-artist lore.
Birth Narrative Engine#
The birth narrative is the story the artist and her team tell to the world: it grounds her music in lived experience, creates emotional investment for fans, and provides journalists with angles. Three subsystems build it:
-
Origin story generation: Formative experiences, key life events, mentor/influence figures, the "becoming an artist" moment, early struggles and breakthroughs — the narrative that fans retell and journalists return to.
-
Artistic DNA encoding: Core creative parameters serialized as an immutable identity seed; consistency enforcement across all generated content; drift detection (flagging output that moves outside the identity envelope); version-controlled identity evolution.
-
Mythology scaffolding: Symbolic elements (colors, animals, imagery); recurring motifs in lyrics, visuals, and narrative; Easter eggs for devoted fans; interconnection points with other Calliope artists.
EP and mixtape release types are first-class — the AlbumType enum
(@calliope/core) includes ep and mixtape alongside studio, live,
compilation, and deluxe — and the muse package's deluxe-edition-planner
plans the smaller releases that maintain momentum between major albums.
Voice Identity Forge (@calliope/voice)#
Original Voice Synthesis#
Every Calliope voice is created from scratch — no human voice is cloned. This is a fundamental design principle. The voice is fully parametric, meaning every characteristic from timbre to emotional expression to imperfection is deliberately designed, not sampled.
-
Parametric voice design: Timbre engineering (breathy, raspy, clear, nasal, rich, dark, bright); vocal range specification (contralto, mezzo-soprano, soprano, dramatic soprano); register transition modeling (chest voice, mix, head voice, falsetto, whistle register) with natural transition smoothness control; natural imperfection injection (vibrato wobble, breath noise, vocal fry, resonance peaks).
-
Emotional expression engine: Per-emotion vocal transformation parameters defining how each emotion changes the voice (grief thickens and slows; excitement brightens and speeds; longing stretches vowels; anger tightens and sharpens); dynamic range mapping from the most intimate whisper to a full theatrical belt; cultural emotional expression patterns (Western pop belting, Japanese enka vibrato, West African melisma, Arabic maqam ornamentation).
-
Vocal signature system: Unique identifying characteristics that make the voice recognizable within three seconds of hearing; recognizability scoring; signature phrases and vocal sounds that become associated with the artist; anti-similarity validation ensuring the voice is not too close to any existing real artist's vocal fingerprint.
Voice Evolution System#
An artist's voice should evolve across a career, just as real singers' voices do. The following systems model that evolution deliberately rather than accidentally:
-
Career-spanning vocal development: Natural maturation modeling — voices change over decades; deliberately planned stylistic experiments; technique acquisition that builds over career phases; era-specific vocal processing aesthetics (e.g., the intimate lo-fi recording of the debut vs. the expansive production of the arena-era album).
-
Band voice orchestration: Harmony voice generation for groups; lead/background vocal assignment and scheduling; vocal blend optimization; distinctive voice differentiation within groups so each member is individually recognizable.
Singing Performance Engine#
The performance engine handles the mechanics of how the voice actually delivers a song — breathing, articulation, genre-specific technique:
-
Natural singing synthesis: Breath management modeling (where the singer takes breaths, and how this shapes phrasing); consonant/vowel articulation tuned per language; genre-specific vocal technique (hip-hop flow and ad-libs, pop melisma runs, indie spoken-sing delivery, metal growl and scream techniques, R&B runs, country twang).
-
Rap and spoken word: Flow pattern generation (triplet flows, boom-bap cadences, polyrhythmic patterns, mumble rap); cadence and delivery style; freestyle simulation; spoken word poetry delivery.
Speaking and Spoken-Word Voice#
The voice model is typed by voiceModelType (singing | speaking | rap), so an
artist can carry a distinct speaking voice separate from her singing voice — the
way she sounds in interviews and social videos. spoken-word-performance-engine
handles spoken-word delivery, and natural-imperfection-injector adds the
vibrato wobble, breath noise, and vocal-fry imperfections that keep synthesized
output from sounding robotically perfect.
Visual Identity Studio (@calliope/visage)#
Facial Identity System#
Every artist has a consistent, original face that appears recognizably in every image across her career. Consistency is enforced through LoRA model training — not just a style or description, but a trained model that produces the same face reliably:
-
Original face generation: Cultural authenticity in facial features; facial feature consistency enforcement via LoRA model training so the same face appears consistently across all generated images; expression library (100+ expressions mapped to emotional states); aging model tracking appearance across decades; makeup and styling variations.
-
Character sheet generation: Model reference sheets (front, side, three-quarter); expression sheets; costume design sheets; turnaround sheets for 3D modeling — the complete design documentation a character artist or animator would require.
Fashion and Wardrobe System#
An artist's visual style is an artistic statement as much as her music is. The fashion system builds a complete, era-tracked wardrobe identity:
-
Personal style engine: Core aesthetic definition (minimalist, maximalist, streetwear, haute couture, vintage, avant-garde, goth, cottagecore, etc.); era-specific lookbooks tracking how style evolves with each album cycle; occasion-appropriate styling (press day, award show, casual street, stage, workout, home); style evolution timeline.
-
Outfit generation pipeline: Individual garment design and combination; color palette consistency with sonic identity; designer collaboration simulation (a fictional haute couture collaboration has different visual language than a sportswear brand partnership); merchandise-ready design extraction; cultural event appropriateness validation.
-
Iconic look system: Signature piece identification — the look that becomes the Halloween costume, the fan cosplay, the era-defining visual; viral moment outfit generation; fan-replicable style elements.
Album Art and Visual Campaign Pipeline#
Every release needs a full suite of visual assets across formats and platforms. The pipeline generates all of these with consistent era-specific visual language:
- Album artwork in multiple formats — square streaming thumbnail, landscape physical album, vinyl sleeve (front, back, inner), cassette J-card — with consistent era-specific visual language.
- Promotional visuals: single artwork, tour posters, social media graphics (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, YouTube), billboard creative, playlist cover art.
- Photography simulation: photoshoot concepts in multiple photographer styles (editorial, paparazzi candid, intimate documentary, commercial), press kit headshots, magazine cover simulations.
Platform Avatar Export#
The avatar-export-pipeline service produces avatar export packages for
external social and metaverse platforms, so an artist keeps a consistent visual
presence outside Calliope. (Per-platform avatar adaptation for specific virtual
worlds also lives in @calliope/nexus.)
3D Avatar System#
For virtual concerts, metaverse appearances, and hologram performances, a 3D version of the artist is required. The 3D system builds from the 2D character design upward:
- High-fidelity 3D avatar from 2D character design, with facial and body rigging for performance.
- Multiple LOD (Level of Detail) variants — from real-time performance quality to cinematic quality.
- Clothing simulation with physics (hair and fabric movement).
- VR/AR-ready avatars for virtual concerts; hologram-ready models; Unreal/Unity-compatible character packages.
Hair, Beauty, and Body Art System (@calliope/glamour)#
Beauty and hair are not cosmetic details — they are communication. Hair color
changes announce new eras. A signature makeup element becomes a fan costume.
@calliope/glamour treats these as artistic dimensions with their own design
and content pipelines:
-
Hair identity system: Signature hair library per artist encoding era-defining hair moments (the debut era's long natural hair, the breakthrough era's platinum bob); color-as-signal system (hair color changes announce new eras and shifts in artistic direction); texture range from straight to coily; hair as performance element (whip choreography that depends on specific hair length and movement).
-
Makeup as art form: Signature makeup elements per artist (the artist's trademark graphic liner, her signature red lip, the full-face avant-garde looks for magazine covers); tiered looks from everyday-natural through editorial to full performance; transformative beauty (prosthetics, body paint, theatrical special effects); creature/fantasy looks for avant-garde artistic expression.
-
Beauty content pipeline: Get Ready With Me (GRWM) content generation for social media; makeup tutorial content in the artist's voice; beauty product collaboration concepts for brand partnerships; nail art design per era.
-
Signature beauty elements: Irreducible beauty signatures that make the artist visually recognizable in any context; recognizability scoring; consistency enforcement across all visual output.
Musical Direction Intelligence (@calliope/muse)#
Artistic Direction Engine#
@calliope/muse is the artistic brain that translates a persona into musical
decisions. It does not generate music — that is Euterpe's job — but it decides,
in specific and defensible terms, what music this particular artist would make:
-
Identity-to-sound translation: Persona attributes systematically mapped to sonic parameters — an emotionally volatile artist produces music with more dynamic range; a culturally hybrid background produces fusion rhythm patterns; introversion produces more intimate, stripped-down arrangements.
-
Reference track system: Curated reference libraries defining the sonic neighborhood ("sounds like X meets Y"); anti-reference tracks (sounds the artist would never make); genre boundary definition with explicit permeability rules.
-
Creative brief generation: Detailed musical briefs for Euterpe's generation engines — tempo, key, time signature, instrumentation specifications, lyrical theme constraints, vocal performance direction, and production aesthetic direction.
Song Conception System#
Before a song is generated it is fully conceived — its emotional core, its lyrical world, its melodic identity, and its structural shape:
-
Lyric generation framework: Vocabulary modeling per artist (characteristic word frequency, reading level, slang comfort, profanity comfort); thematic obsession mapping (what topics this artist returns to repeatedly); metaphor and imagery bank; rhyme scheme preferences; narrative vs. abstract vs. confessional lyrical style; multi-language lyric support.
-
Melodic identity system: Vocal melody contour preferences (ascending hooks, descending verses); interval preference profiling; hook construction patterns; signature melodic motifs that recur across the discography.
-
Song structure intelligence: Per-artist structure preferences (some artists always go verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus; others use unconventional structures); dynamic arc modeling; intro/outro signature styles.
Album Architecture System#
Albums are more than collections of songs — they are artistic statements with their own arc and logic. The album architecture system manages that at multiple time horizons:
-
Album concept engine: Thematic album conception (concept albums with narrative arcs, mood journeys, sonic experiments); track sequencing intelligence; interlude and transition design; hidden track strategy; deluxe edition planning.
-
Discography planning: Multi-album career arc planning (debut → sophomore → magnum opus → experimental → comeback); EP/mixtape strategy; singles strategy with release timing optimization; feature and collaboration integration planning.
-
Artistic evolution encoding: Album-to-album sonic progression tracking deliberate genre shifts with narrative justification; growth metrics distinguishing genuine artistic development from trend-chasing.
Choreography and Movement Language (@calliope/kinesis)#
Movement Identity System#
Movement is an artist's physical signature — as distinctive and intentional as her vocal timbre. The movement identity system builds a per-artist movement DNA that informs everything from music-video choreography to idle behavior on stage:
-
Signature movement vocabulary: Per-artist movement DNA — fluid vs. sharp quality, grounded vs. aerial preference, intimate vs. expansive spatial range; idle movement patterns; gestural vocabulary for non-choreographed moments; walk and stage traverse style; emotional movement mapping.
-
Cultural dance tradition integration: Genre-authentic movement foundations. Hip-hop requires popping, locking, breaking, and krumping as foundational vocabulary; Afrobeats requires azonto, gwara gwara, and shaku shaku; Latin pop requires reggaeton bounce and waist isolation; K-pop requires precise point choreography and formation discipline; ballroom vogue requires dips, death drops, spins, and catwalk. Cultural movement respectfulness validation prevents appropriation without credit.
-
Original style invention: Novel movement language generation — creating the artist's signature move ("her moonwalk") that becomes iconic and culturally associated with her; movement trend forecasting.
Choreography Generation Engine#
Choreography generation converts music into movement, with different strategies for soloists, groups, and different social contexts:
-
Music-to-movement generation: Beat-synchronous choreography using EDGE-class diffusion models; rhythmic complexity matching (simple grooves get simpler movement; polyrhythmic production gets layered multi-body-part choreography); lyric-responsive gestural choreography (movement that illustrates or counterpoints what's being sung); dynamic intensity mapping.
-
Group choreography system: Formation design engine (V-formations, circles, lines, scatter-to-unison); canon and cascade patterns (same movement staggered across performers); partner choreography; role-specific choreography for each group member; synchronization precision control; formation transition choreography.
-
Choreographic structure: Section-specific vocabulary (verse movement is more understated; chorus is peak energy; bridge may strip back to stillness); dance break architecture; strategic stillness and freezes for dramatic emphasis.
Viral Movement Design#
The TikTok era demands movement designed to spread. The viral movement subsystem designs choreography specifically for social replication:
-
TikTok choreography engine: 15–30 second hookable sequences optimized for social replication — the difficulty is calibrated so a casual fan can learn it in a day; mirror-friendly design (the choreography works when mirrored); music snippet selection optimizing for the most shareable section.
-
Dance challenge architecture: Challenge concept development; difficulty tier variants (beginner, intermediate, expert versions); transformation/reveal mechanics; duet-friendly design enabling split-screen comparison.
-
Performance capture integration: Markerless motion capture via Move AI Gen 2; AI motion generation via EDGE/Beat-It models; motion-to-3D-avatar retargeting for virtual performances.
Movement Trend Intelligence#
movement-trend-forecaster and viral-movement-predictor forecast emerging
movement trends and predict which sequences are most likely to spread, feeding
the viral-movement design pipeline. Choreography that flows downstream is
evaluated for cross-modal coherence by @calliope/synesthesia and by
@calliope/muse-gate.
Music Video and Visual Album Production (@calliope/cinema)#
Video Concept Development#
A music video starts as a treatment — a creative document — before any generation happens. The concept pipeline ensures the video is a deliberate artistic statement, not a random collection of visuals:
-
Treatment generation: Complete concept documents from song analysis and artist identity — visual narrative structures (performance-only, narrative, abstract/art film, hybrid), location/setting specification, mood board compilation, director's vision statement.
-
Storyboard pipeline: Shot-by-shot storyboard with camera movement specification, lighting design direction, color palette per scene, and timing annotations synced to song structure.
Video Generation Pipeline#
The generation pipeline orchestrates multiple AI video models, selecting the best model per shot type and maintaining the artist's character consistency across all shots:
-
AI video orchestration: Multi-model routing (Kling, Sora, Runway, and others selected based on shot requirements); character consistency via artist LoRA models across all shots; multi-shot sequence assembly with temporal coherence; audio-synchronized generation (lip-sync to vocal performance); resolution management (1080p minimum, 4K target).
-
Shot type specialization: Performance shots (the artist performing the song), narrative shots (story scenes), abstract/artistic shots, establishing shots, close-up emotional shots.
teaser is a first-class TargetOutput in @calliope/core with its own
quality-threshold profile; teaser video output is produced through the cinema
pipeline, and @calliope/brand's teaser-campaign-designer plans the
surrounding release-campaign teaser strategy.
Post-Production Pipeline#
Raw generated clips need to be cut, graded, and formatted for all distribution channels. The post-production pipeline handles this automatically:
-
Editing intelligence: Cut timing synchronized to beat, measure, and section; pacing variation (fast cuts in the chorus, longer takes in the verse); multi-take selection; transition style per video aesthetic.
-
Color grading system: Artist-specific LUT libraries; era-specific color palettes; scene-to-scene continuity; mood-responsive color shifts.
-
Output variants: Full music video (3–7 minutes), short-form vertical cuts (TikTok/Reels/Shorts), behind-the-scenes, teaser trailers, lyric videos, visualizers, live performance simulation.
Synesthetic Coherence Engine (@calliope/synesthesia)#
The Synesthesia engine is Calliope's cross-modal consistency enforcer — ensuring that every output across every medium reflects the same emotional and artistic identity. An album cover that "sounds right" and a choreographic sequence that "looks like the music" are not accidents; they are the result of explicit, parameterized cross-modal rules enforced here.
Artist Synesthetic Profile#
Each artist has a unique synesthetic profile that defines how her different artistic dimensions relate to one another. This profile is authored at genesis and enforced at every generation step:
-
Sound-color mapping: Per-artist color-frequency associations (what color is her C major? her minor key?); timbre-texture associations; chord-mood-color triads; key signature color assignments.
-
Rhythm-movement translation: BPM-to-kinetic-energy mapping; rhythmic pattern → body part activation rules; polyrhythm → multi-body-part isolation; groove → weight distribution patterns.
-
Emotion-across-all-media consistency: A single unified emotional palette defining how sadness looks (visual choices), sounds (musical production), moves (choreography), and reads (lyrical language) — all drawn from the same emotional source.
Cross-Modal Validation#
The validation layer checks every generated asset against the synesthetic profile and surfaces inconsistencies before output is approved:
-
Automated coherence scoring: Every generated asset — album cover, music video, choreography, social post, interview response — is scored for consistency with the artist's established synesthetic profile.
-
Drift detection: Flagging output that has drifted from the artist's established aesthetic across output history.
-
Synesthetic style guides: Auto-generated per artist per era — the complete cross-modal specification for that career phase.
-
Real-time cross-modal generation: Audio-reactive concert visuals; music-driven choreography adjustment; synesthetic visualizer generation per song.
-
Coherence scoring:
coherence-scorerandcross-modal-consistency-guardevaluate the combined cross-modal experience — whether music, visuals, movement, and personality reinforce one another — and flag cross-modal friction where elements undermine each other.
Brand and Marketing Intelligence (@calliope/brand)#
Brand Strategy Engine#
An artist's brand is the system through which she communicates with the world commercially — it shapes how her music is positioned, what audiences it reaches, and how she is perceived outside of her art:
-
Brand identity framework: Core brand values derived from artist persona; brand voice and tone guidelines (how the artist communicates in promotional contexts vs. fan contexts); visual brand standards; positioning statement; target audience segmentation.
-
Market positioning intelligence: Competitive landscape analysis; white space identification (who is not in this lane?); positioning differentiation; market timing intelligence (is the culture ready for this artist now?).
-
Brand architecture for bands: Group vs. individual member brands; sub-brand management for solo projects; brand hierarchy mapping.
Campaign Strategy System#
Release campaigns are multi-phase operations with specific content, platform strategies, and success metrics at each phase:
-
Release campaign planning: Full campaign timeline from tease through post-release: tease phase → announcement → lead single → promotional cycle → release week → post-release — each phase with specific content, platform strategy, and success metrics.
-
Always-on content strategy: Between-release engagement planning (how does the artist stay present when she isn't releasing music?); content pillar definition (what types of content this artist produces); seasonal and cultural moment planning.
-
PR and media strategy: Press release generation; interview preparation (talking points, anecdote library, stories the artist is ready to tell); interview response generation for text, audio, and video; media outlet targeting; crisis communication planning.
Marketing Asset Generation#
The following asset types are generated at this layer to support campaigns across all channels:
- Visual marketing: social media graphics, promotional banners, email templates, advertising creative, billboard concepts.
- Merchandise design: apparel (t-shirts, hoodies), album-era merchandise lines, tour collections, limited edition collectibles.
- Partnership concepts: brand partnerships, co-branded content, sponsorship integration, cross-artist collaboration marketing.
Social Media Presence Engine (@calliope/presence)#
Autonomous Social Agent#
The social presence engine autonomously manages an artist's social media presence across all major platforms — generating platform-native content, responding to fans, and maintaining the artist's voice consistently:
-
Platform-native content generation: Each platform receives content native to its format and culture. Instagram gets curated grid images, Stories, and Reels. TikTok gets trend participation, original concepts, duets, and stitches. Twitter/X gets hot takes, fan interaction, and cultural commentary. YouTube gets long-form content, Community posts, and Shorts. Threads and Bluesky receive platform-appropriate variants.
-
Personality-consistent communication: Writing style modeling — the artist's characteristic vocabulary, emoji usage pattern, punctuation personality, humor style, and topic comfort zones — producing text that sounds like her and no one else.
-
Temporal intelligence: Time zone-appropriate posting; cultural moment responsiveness (reacting to breaking news in a way that's authentic to the artist's values); release cycle-synchronized content intensity (louder during release periods, more intimate between projects).
Fan Interaction System#
Social media is not broadcast-only — it requires genuine-feeling interaction. The fan interaction system handles responses at scale while maintaining the artist's character and appropriate boundaries:
-
Comment and reply engine: Contextual responses to fan comments; tone-appropriate replies; fan recognition (acknowledging longtime fans vs. new fans differently); boundary enforcement (graceful deflection of invasive, inappropriate, or mentally unhealthy fan behavior).
-
Community building: Fandom naming and culture establishment (creating the shared vocabulary and rituals of the fanbase); inside joke development; fan challenge creation; user-generated content amplification; fan milestone celebrations.
-
Parasocial relationship ethics: Healthy boundary modeling so the relationship between artist and fan is emotionally enriching rather than exploitative; age-appropriate guardrails; explicit mental health-sensitive content guidelines; transparent AI disclosure compliance where required by law.
Content Calendar Management#
Content is only effective when posted at the right time and in the right mix. Platform-specific optimal posting times; content type rotation; release-cycle amplification; analytics-driven schedule optimization are all managed here.
Fan Ecosystem Platform (@calliope/fandom)#
Fan Relationship Management#
@calliope/fandom manages the artist's relationship with her audience at scale,
treating fans as a dynamic ecosystem with different engagement levels and
different needs — without collecting personal data:
-
Anonymous fan profiling: Engagement patterns (not personal data collection); fan journey tracking from casual listener through engaged fan to superfan to evangelist; fan segment definitions; fan lifetime value modeling.
-
Engagement scoring: Multi-platform engagement aggregation; quality scoring (a thoughtful comment is more valuable than a passive stream); trend detection; churn prediction and re-engagement trigger design.
-
Personalized fan experience: Content recommendations per fan segment; exclusive content tiers; personalized milestone acknowledgments; fan-specific content generation (birthday messages, thank-you notes, anniversary acknowledgments).
Community Architecture#
Fan communities are built, not found. The community architecture layer deliberately designs the social structures that hold a fanbase together:
- Fan community platform integration: Discord server design, Reddit management strategy, fan forum design, platform-native community features.
- Community culture engineering: fandom naming; shared vocabulary; community values and norms; conflict resolution approaches; fan hierarchy management.
- Fan-created content ecosystem: fan art curation and amplification strategy; cover/remix encouragement; fan fiction community spaces; collaborative fan projects.
Superfan Monetization#
Deep engagement converts into revenue through a tiered system, with blockchain
token economics owned by @aje/* but surfaced here for the fan experience:
- Tiered subscription and membership model; exclusive content pipeline; early access programs; virtual meet-and-greet experiences; limited-edition drops.
- Fan token economics via
@aje/*: artist-specific token design; token-gated content access; fan governance (voting on setlists, album artwork choices); collectible moment tokenization; secondary market enabling for digital collectibles.
Spectacle and Live Experience Architecture (@calliope/stage)#
Concert Dramaturgy Engine#
A Calliope concert is designed as a narrative experience, not a setlist. The dramaturgy engine builds the full dramatic arc of a show:
-
Multi-act narrative architecture: Concert-as-story with 3–5 act structures and explicit emotional journey mapping across the full setlist — rising action, climax, resolution, encore as coda.
-
Technical production design: LED wall and visual system design; lighting rig conception; speaker array and spatial audio design specification; mechanical and kinetic element specification (hydraulic platforms, robotic arms, motorized set pieces); pyrotechnics and practical effects planning; PixMob wristband and audience participation technology.
-
Stage architecture: Stage shape and ramp configuration; catwalk and thrust design; B-stage and satellite stage planning for intimacy sections; aerial rig specification; reveal and transformation mechanics.
Audience and Multisensory Experience#
multisensory-experience-designer, audience-interaction-designer,
spatial-audio-mixer, and audience-simulator design the collective audience
experience — the sonic and sensory dimension of crowd emotion, audience
participation, spatial-audio staging, and simulated audience response used to
pressure-test a show before it is staged.
Transmedia Lore and Universe Building (@calliope/lore)#
Lore is distinct from artist backstory: it is an active, expanding fictional universe rather than a biographical document. The lore system builds worlds that fans can explore and theories they can develop:
-
Narrative universe creation: Artist mythology extending beyond music into a coherent fictional universe with its own timeline, geography, characters, and rules.
-
Cross-media extensions: Short film concepts tied to album narratives; podcast/audio drama concepts; graphic novel/webtoon concepts; game tie-in narratives; augmented reality experiences.
-
Fan discovery architecture: Hidden lore for devoted fans to find — embedded in lyrics, music videos, social posts, and even in the metadata of files; cryptic clues and ARG (alternate reality game) elements; staged "leaks" and lore-reveals timed to release milestones.

Collectibles and Digital Artifacts (@calliope/artifacts)#
Physical and digital collectibles are distinct artistic products that extend the
artist's world into tangible form. @calliope/artifacts handles their design
and mechanics:
-
Physical collectibles design: Limited edition vinyl (180g audiophile pressing, picture discs, colored vinyl); deluxe packaging (box sets, lenticular covers, zines, photo books); merchandise collectibles (limited run figurines, enamel pins, art prints); concert artifact replicas.
-
Digital collectibles: Blockchain-verified unique digital artwork tied to artist milestones; generative collectible series where each piece is algorithmically unique; animated digital art editions; interactive collectible experiences where the collectible responds to the owner's actions.
-
Trading and physical-digital bridges:
card-trade-huboperates a collectible-card trading hub andnfc-bridge-designerdesigns NFC bridges that connect physical collectibles to digital experiences. Token economics for blockchain-verified collectibles are handled through@calliope/fandom'sfan-token-economics-engineand the@aje/*integration.
Distribution and Industry Relations (@calliope/distro)#
@calliope/distro handles the business of getting an artist's music into the
world — across streaming platforms, licensing deals, publishing registrations,
and industry networks:
-
Music distribution strategy: DSP pitch and placement strategy (Spotify editorial playlist pitching, Apple Music Essentials, TikTok sound promotion, YouTube Content ID monetization); release timing optimization (avoiding competing with major releases in the same genre); territory-specific release strategies.
-
Sync licensing: Music supervision pitch documents for film, TV, advertising, and gaming; sync placement opportunity identification; licensing fee modeling per use type.
-
Publishing administration: Songwriting credit management; PRO (Performing Rights Organization) registration planning; mechanical licensing strategy; international collection society coordination.
-
Industry relations:
industry-network-mappermaps the artist's industry network andaward-campaign-managerruns award campaigns. Festival set design — including how an AI act is staged alongside human acts — is handled by@calliope/stage'sfestival-set-designer.
Artist Evolution Engine (@calliope/evolution)#
An artist's career is not a flat line — it moves through distinct phases with different strategic priorities, and occasionally undergoes reinvention. The evolution engine manages this long arc explicitly:
-
Career arc management: The
CareerPhaseenum in@calliope/coredefines seven phases —underground, breakthrough, ascension, peak, experimentation, reinvention, legacy— andCAREER_PHASE_CONFIGSships a per-phase config with a typical duration range, key milestones, transition triggers, and content-strategy adjustments.career-arc-designer,growth-tracker, andtiming-optimizerdesign and pace the arc; phase transitions are emitted asCareerPhaseForecastedandCareerPhaseTransitioneddomain events. -
Reinvention:
creative-renewal-engine,pivot-advisor, andcompetitive-positioneridentify the right moment for artistic reinvention versus consolidation. A reinvention is emitted asReinventionTriggeredandReinventionCompleteddomain events. -
Long-term identity coherence:
era-consistency-managerandartistic-maturity-modelenforce decades-spanning continuity, distinguishing controlled artistic evolution from identity abandonment. Identity-drift detection itself lives in@calliope/genesis(artist-dna-drift-detector,artist-dna-encoder), and intentional evolution is mediated byidentity-version-controland thepersona-seed-immutability-guard— thePersonaSeedis deep-frozen at parse time, so any change is an explicit, versioned evolution rather than silent drift. -
Career arc and parallel eras:
career-arc-designerdesigns the overall career arc across the sevenCareerPhasestages, andparallel-era-managersupports non-standard progressions where an artist exists in more than one phase at once (e.g. musically in a growth phase, commercially at peak). -
Era transition design:
era-transition-designer,era-architect, andera-retrospective-enginedesign new eras, manage the transition between them, and produce closing-era retrospectives — honoring nostalgia for the ending era while framing the next one.
Label Management (@calliope/label)#
When Calliope manages multiple artists, those artists need to be organized as a roster with shared resources and a coherent portfolio strategy:
- Artist roster management: Multi-artist label organization; resource allocation across the roster; inter-artist relationship management (collaborations, creative tension, complementary positioning).
- Portfolio strategy: Genre diversification; artist development stage balancing (a healthy roster has artists at multiple phases); release calendar coordination to avoid cannibalizing each other's releases.
- Label brand identity: Label aesthetic and values; roster coherence (what makes these artists belong to the same label?); label-as-brand marketing strategy.
Collaboration Engine (@calliope/duet)#
Collaborations introduce creative tension that pushes artists in new directions.
@calliope/duet manages both AI-to-AI and AI-to-human collaborations:
-
AI-AI artist collaboration: Cross-Calliope artist collaboration concept development; vocal blend compatibility scoring; genre fusion planning; joint project narrative development.
-
AI-human artist collaboration: Collaboration pitch development for real human artists; authentic cultural exchange frameworks; legal and rights management scaffolding via
@themis/*. -
Guest feature system: Feature performance generation; guest verse integration in host track production briefs; cross-promotional strategy.
-
Live collaborative performance:
collaborative-performance-plannerplans joint human-AI performances,human-ai-co-productionandcreative-session-managerrun co-production sessions, andwriting-camp-simulatorandtopline-collaboratorsimulate collaborative writing-camp workflows.
Artistic Quality Gate (@calliope/muse-gate)#
Every piece of output — from a social post to a concert production — must pass through the quality gate before it is approved. The gate is not a single threshold; it is a multi-dimensional evaluation calibrated to the specific type of output being judged:
-
Artistic excellence enforcement: Multi-dimensional quality scoring on every generated output. The
QualityScores/QualityThresholdscontracts in@calliope/coredefine six 0–1 dimensions — technical, emotional impact, novelty, identity consistency, replay value, and overall aesthetic. Dedicated scorers cover each angle:song-quality-evaluator,authenticity-scorer,persona-consistency-validator,emotional-authenticity-validator,aesthetic-quality-scorer,visual-consistency-checker, andvideo-quality-gate. -
Acceptance thresholds: Thresholds are calibrated per
TargetOutput, not by a single global value —QUALITY_THRESHOLDS_BY_OUTPUTships a tuned threshold set for each of the nine output types (concertis strictest,social_postthe most permissive), and thresholds are configurable per deployment. Thegate-orchestratoraggregates the per-dimension reports and produces aGateApprovalDecisionofapproved, revise, escalate, orblocked. -
Release approval workflow:
release-readiness-assessorruns pre-release readiness checks anda-b-comparatorcompares content variants.human-override-protocolhandles human overrides of a gate decision. Quality outcomes are emitted asQualityGatePassed,QualityGateFailed, andQualityGateOverrideApproveddomain events, each carrying aQualityGateEventPayloadwith the target entity, score summary, and threshold summary. -
AI-artifact detection:
ai-artifact-detectorflags output that is technically AI-competent but artistically hollow, andquality-regression-detectorwatches for quality regressions over time — preferring genuine creative risk over safe, polished mediocrity. -
Aesthetic quality scoring:
aesthetic-quality-scorerevaluates the combined aesthetic of an output, complementing the per-dimension gate scores and@calliope/synesthesia's cross-modal coherence checks.
Audience Emotional Engineering (@calliope/pathos)#
Pathos is the psychoacoustic and emotional-engineering layer. Rather than hoping emotional impact emerges from a generated piece, Pathos designs it deliberately. Its 17 services shape how an output lands with a listener across every dimension of emotional experience:
-
Emotional architecture:
emotional-arc-designer,emotional-contrast-engine,tension-release-engine, andemotional-memory-designerdesign the emotional shape of a piece — its arc, its contrasts, the tension-and-release structure, and the memory it leaves. -
Affective specialists:
euphoria-designer,melancholy-architect,nostalgia-engine, andgoosebump-architectengineer specific affective responses, including the physiological goosebump moment. -
Spatial and spectral audio:
binauraland-spatial-designerdesigns the binaural/spatial-audio dimension andfrequency-spectrum-optimizertunes the frequency spectrum, both informed by the goosebump architecture. -
Listening behavior and reach:
attention-retention-engine,repeat-listening-designer,rhythmic-entrainment, andcontextual-listening-optimizerdesign for sustained attention, replay value, rhythmic entrainment, and context-aware listening.cultural-emotion-mapper,linguistic-emotion-integrator, andglobal-emotional-optimizeradapt the emotional design across cultures, languages, and a global audience.
Fan Universe Extensions (@calliope/nexus)#
Nexus extends an artist's fan universe into games and virtual worlds, so a
persona's reach is not confined to music releases and social platforms. It
depends on @calliope/visage for avatar identity and @calliope/bridge for
cross-domain integration. The boundary between nexus and lore is that
nexus owns interactive in-game and metaverse presence (the artist appears and
performs inside platforms), while lore owns the narrative universe and ARG
layer (the story and mystery that fans follow across media).
-
In-game concert design — Designs virtual concerts staged inside games and metaverse platforms, adapts an artist's setlist into an interactive in-game performance, and reports per-concert engagement analytics.
-
Player experience design — Designs the interactive experience a player has around an artist's in-game presence, so fans participate in the artist's world rather than passively watching a show.
-
Metaverse spaces and events — Builds persistent virtual spaces for an artist, coordinates metaverse events across them, and adapts the artist's avatar to each virtual-world platform's avatar system.
-
Virtual merchandise — Operates a virtual merch shop for digital goods tied to the artist's identity, and designs in-game character skins that carry the artist's visual identity into games.
-
Game soundtrack placement — Places the artist's catalog into game soundtracks, matching tracks to gameplay context, and creates gaming-native content around those placements.
-
Esports partnerships — Manages partnerships between an artist and esports organizations, events, and broadcasts.
-
Platform strategy — Evaluates metaverse and gaming platforms for artist fit and plans a roadmap for expansion across them; a cross-platform identity bridge keeps the persona consistent in every world she appears in.
Live Persona Performance (@calliope/persona-live)#
Persona-live models how the artist behaves in public-facing contexts where she
speaks rather than sings — interviews, press conferences, podcasts, and social
commentary. The boundary between this package and @calliope/presence is that
presence owns the autonomous social media output (posts, replies), while
persona-live owns the structured, high-stakes public persona contexts where
responses must be especially consistent and on-brand.
-
V2 commentator persona authoring (implemented):
CommentatorPersonaAuthoringvalidates@calliope/persona-livecommentators for V2 with cleared voice clone metadata, brand metadata, talent signoff, fallback-bank metadata, and audio/subtitle-only gameplay-inert output. -
Interview and press performance (implemented):
interview-personality-model,interview-prep-engine,interview-response-generator,press-conference-handler,quote-generator, andanecdote-librarygenerate consistent in-character behavior across interviews and press-line appearances — talking points, quotable responses, and a ready anecdote bank. -
Long-form and conversational presence (implemented):
podcast-guest-engine,documentary-participant,long-form-conversation-manager,social-commentary-engine,speech-writer,voice-note-creator,digital-body-language-designer,media-training-protocol, andtext-personality-enginemodel the artist's presence across podcasts, documentaries, long conversations, social commentary, and text — keeping one recognizable personality across every channel.
Compliance and Ethics (@calliope/compliance)#
Compliance sits at the foundation layer because its rules apply to every piece of output across every other package. It enforces legal obligations, ethical standards, and platform-specific content rules:
- AI disclosure compliance: Regional regulations compliance for AI-generated content labeling (EU AI Act, FTC guidelines, and emerging jurisdiction-specific requirements).
- Deepfake and synthetic media labeling: Every piece of content generated carries appropriate metadata and visible disclosure per applicable requirements.
- Parasocial ethics enforcement: Preventing the fan relationship from becoming psychologically exploitative — hard limits on content that simulates romantic or sexual availability.
- Cultural appropriation risk scoring: Flagging content that draws from cultural traditions without appropriate context, credit, or authenticity.
- Age-appropriate content guardrails: Ensuring all content meets platform-specific and jurisdiction-specific age requirements.
- Copyright and IP protection: Via
@themis/*for all generated content — preventing inadvertent similarity to protected works.
Cross-Domain Integration (@calliope/bridge)#
@calliope/bridge is the isolation boundary between Calliope and all other
Oshun domains. Calliope never calls an external domain directly — all calls go
through a typed, Zod-validated adapter in bridge. This means that changes in
external domain APIs require updates only in bridge, not spread across the
entire Calliope codebase.
The bridge holds a typed contract for every external domain Calliope depends on, and an adapter class that translates Calliope-native requests into each domain's expected format:
@euterpe/*adapter: Full music generation API integration — Calliope's@calliope/museproduces creative briefs; Bridge translates them into Euterpe API calls and returns produced music.@isis/*adapter: Visual generation pipeline integration for all image and video assets.@aja/*adapter: Motion generation and choreography API integration.@maya/*adapter: Virtual environment API for concert venue and world building.@aphrodite/*adapter: Live streaming integration for virtual performances.@hathor/*adapter: Worldbuilding and lore knowledge integration.@sophia/*adapter: Cultural research and knowledge base for authenticity validation.@themis/*adapter: Legal and compliance integration for rights management.@psyche/*adapter: Parasocial ethics and fan-wellbeing review.@aje/*adapter: Blockchain and token economy infrastructure.@nyx/*adapter: Additional cross-domain integration.
The bridge also ships a typed @uzume/* contract, and supporting coordination
services: CrossDomainEventBus, AudioToolsBridge, KnowledgePipelineManager,
VisualPipelineOrchestrator, and VirtuosoMigrationBridge. Every external
domain has a Zod-validated request/response contract under
libs/calliope/bridge/src/contracts/.
Autonomous Agent System (@calliope/agents)#
The agent layer exists because many Calliope operations span multiple packages
and involve long, interdependent steps that must be orchestrated in sequence.
Rather than calling those packages manually from external code, each major
workflow is encapsulated as an agent — a class that composes the lower-layer
services and produces a fully validated workflow output. @calliope/agents
exports twelve agents.
Artist Creation Agents#
These agents handle the formation of new artist entities, from a single persona to a full group:
ArtistGenesisAgent: Orchestrates the complete artist-birth workflow — composing genesis, voice, visage, brand, and presence services to produce a coherent persona, a differentiation benchmark, and a launch plan from a single artist-concept input.PersonaDevelopmentAgent: Develops and refines an artist persona over time.GroupFormationAgent: Orchestrates the formation of a multi-artist group.
Content Production Agents#
These agents manage the end-to-end production of creative work — from concept through generation through distribution-readiness:
AlbumProductionAgent: Orchestrates complete album production.SongProductionAgent: Orchestrates single-song production.MusicVideoProductionAgent: Orchestrates end-to-end music-video production — concept, storyboard, generation, post-production, and formatting.ContentBatchAgent: Produces batched social and marketing content.
Campaign and Release Agents#
These agents manage the multi-stage processes around releasing music and growing an artist's career:
AlbumReleaseAgent: Manages the album-release campaign across marketing, distribution, PR, and fan engagement.SingleReleaseAgent: Manages the single-release campaign.EraLaunchAgent: Coordinates the launch of a new artist era.ConcertProductionAgent: Plans and produces a concert experience from setlist through stage design to post-show content.CollaborationAgent: Manages end-to-end collaboration workflows with other artists.
Agent workflow shapes are defined in
libs/calliope/agents/src/types/agent-workflows.ts, which composes schemas from
@calliope/core and the cinema, artifacts, distro, and duet type modules.
