Section 102 turns the racing catalog into concrete launch rulesets with activation plugins, authored start grids, scoring models, HUD expectations, and per-mode validation.

Start Grids#

Race events can use rolling start, grid start, or drag-strip start. Circuit, sprint, time-trial, eliminator, knockout, Race Day, tournament, and custom room events can select the appropriate grid for the track context. Drag events always use drag-strip staging.

Core Race Modes#

Circuit Race is a closed-loop N-lap ruleset. It supports lap-count, fuel, tire-wear, and weather modifiers.

Sprint Race is point-to-point, with no laps and explicit start and finish gates.

Drag Race supports quarter-mile, half-mile, and kilometer variants. The launch flow includes perfect-launch bonus, perfect-shift bonus, redline visual cue, tilt-sensitive arcade input, Christmas tree staging, reaction-time recording, end-of-lane telemetry, burnout pre-launch, tire-temperature launch grip, and bracket-race handicap.

Drift Race uses score rather than finish order. Score is built from drift angle, line, speed, duration, and multiplier chain. Vehicle drift profiles and authored drift zones drive held-zone bonuses.

Time Trial is solo with visible ghost lap, leaderboard per track and vehicle class, and fastest-lap rewards.

Elimination And Street Variants#

Eliminator removes the last-place driver on a countdown timer and shows a last-place flag for readable pressure.

Speed Trap is point-to-point with radar stations. Top speed at each station feeds aggregate speed scoring.

Knockout is lap based, eliminating the last-place driver each lap until one driver remains.

Outrun starts in the open world through flashing headlights, then resolves when one driver opens a sudden lead gap within the time limit.

Event Sets And Rooms#

Race Day is a 4-6 event tournament day with cumulative score and per-day ranking. Tournament Mode uses the formal bracket flow shared with Section 93.

Custom Room exposes host-configurable race rules, vehicle restrictions, assist eligibility, track, lap count, and damage model.

Verification#

RaceModeVariants_V2_Contract.json, race-mode-variants.json, the RaceModes.Module automation spec, and check-v2-race-mode-variants.py validate Section 102.
