Context#

V5 needs anti-cheat for competitive and online modes, but single-player campaigns must remain resilient, performant, and playable without invasive third-party DRM.

Decision#

V5 does not use Denuvo or equivalent third-party DRM. The project relies on platform entitlement checks, signed builds, service-side validation for online features, and Easy Anti-Cheat for multiplayer integrity.

Consequences#

  • Single-player startup and save paths cannot depend on third-party DRM.
  • Anti-cheat work remains scoped to online and competitive integrity.
  • Store and certification messaging must not claim a DRM layer that is absent.
